BOR Starts Off Its 6th Year Right Where The Other 5 Left Off…Spewing Crap All Over The Web
At least once a week BOR does something that makes me cock my head and say, “Really?” First it was taking in revenue from their readers, then breaking the banks of their endorsed candidates. There’s more in between, but for time’s sake, we’ll get to the latest edition and some of the words they had to offer in endorsing Diana Maldonado in HD 52.
Now, to be fair to the kiddies, the endorsement comes as no surprise. Like I’ve said before, aside from Craddick D’s, they’ve never met a Democrat they didn’t like. But some of the things they had to say in their press release (that I won’t link up to because it is so horribly off target that it doesn’t deserve an audience) did leave them looking a little on the unintelligent side. And I quote:
“Diana Maldonado will represent the people of House District 52, unlike a pro-Craddick Republican,” stated Karl-Thomas Musselman Board Member of TexBlog PAC and Publisher of Burnt Orange Report. “We chose Maldonado because TexBlog PAC is actively working to end the era of one-party Republican rule in Texas by electing Democratic candidates at every level.”
Couple of issues here.
First, where do they get off thinking that a pro-Craddick Republican won’t represent District 52 well? The kids over at BOR would be well served to understand that just because they don’t agree with Craddick, does not mean that their opinion is shared by all. I know, it’s hard to cope with, but the world doesn’t revolve around you.
Let’s not forget that even in the worst Republican year of modern man, 2006, statewide Republican candidates: Hutchinson, Dewhurst, Abbott, Combs, Jefferson, Medina, Hecht, and Johnson all got 60% of the vote or more in HD 52. SBOE Republican candidate Dunbar took 70%, and Ogden and Carter each pulled 56%. Sounds like to me this district would be well served by its will to be represented by a Republican.
Second, where do they get this “era of one-party Republican rule”? Last I checked, 6 years doesn’t quite count for an “era”. Not unlike the 150+ years that Democrats controlled Texas before the two parties stalemated from 1994-2002. To me, 150 years is better fitting of the term “era”.
Seriously, BOR, you wanna do the world a favor? Here’s what you do…pull your bottom lip over your head and swallow hard!
Oh, and by the way, Matt Glazer, sorry we never got back to you “off line” like you requested. We over here at OGR have had better things to do. You know, like: root canals, driving through Jim Dunnam’s district, taking turns kicking each other in the junk, stuff like that.
