Donna Keel Getting Help From Within
Hat-tip to the fine folks over at Post Cards From the Lege for being the first to report this one (at least the first that I saw). As it seems, Donna Keel, the Republican candidate running against Valinda Bolton in HD 47, will be joined by Governor Rick Perry at her upcoming fundraiser on May 20. The Governor, who is headlining the event, apparently feels no need to be shy with his support for vesting the incumbent Bolton.
Poor Valinda, she gets no love for standing with the Governor on his HPV mandate.
As fate would have it, I have also seen the invitation to this event, and I have to be honest, I was surprised to see as many institutional Republican names as pledged donors as I did. I’ll keep it nameless for now, but there were some names on there that I was certain would ultimately sit this one out.
Who knows, in-light of this activity I may have to nix my earlier (though not shared on this blog) notion that the Republican movers and shakers were going to write-off this race and focus elsewhere. It will be very interesting to see what Donna Keel posts on her upcoming campaign finance report. And Valinda Bolton, too, who only had just north of 15K cash on hand on her last report.
