Hat Tip to Paul Burka

I can’t say that my commentary on Mr. Burka’s blog will always be favorable (sorry Paul, sometimes you’re a bit much for me), but Mr. Burka posted an interesting piece calling out the kid bloggers for taking petty rumors and calling them fact-based stories.  This, of course, is a popular strategy over at BOR, a recent example being the rumor they published that Terry Keel was quietly working in support of Mindy Monford in her race for Travis County DA.

While BOR seems to have come out clean from that blunder, the Keel/Monford rumors did land a certain democrat consultant in hot water.  However, Mr. Burka is now calling BOR out on the carpet for publishing - what he considers - false reports that David Beckwith has been fired from Senator Cornyn’s campaign.

If you haven’t had the chance to, check out Mr. Burka’s conversation with Mr. Beckwith here and see for yourself how he debunks the report.

Now, to be fair to the kid bloggers, they do seem to have Mr. Beckwith identified as frequently commenting on their blog under a fictitious name, but I really fail to see the crime and corruption in that, so BOR, I hereby am still officially putting you on notice.

sometimes I really wonder if you guys are reading the same article you are linking to.

and I’m sure anonymous Capitol staffers that blog under pseudonyms, just like Kelly Fero, have no problem supporting fellow Republicans that use their taxpayer funded time and computers to support their extracurricular partisan blogging activities.

    Jez–

Don’t you go and break my heart, too. After Fact Checker, I can’t take anymore rejection.

Man, if only the state paid for my computer, my internet connection, my…well, you get the picture. Maybe then I could afford the price of gas that democrats told me they would reduce.

Besides, the post you commented on went up at 7:34 pm, and even the homeless that panhandle around the capitol know that by then every House staffer is too drunk to even drunk text.

Congrats, you are now the first OGR reader to post a lightening-fast comment. Thanks for being such an avid reader.

I’d like to thank all the little people for my honor of lightening fast comment. I’d also like to thank my google reader and david beckwith as well for making an online ass of himself to inspire this post. and finally thank you fine gents at OGR for desperately trying to get BOR to acknowledge your existence.

also I swear I’ve seen comments get approved during work hours. just saying.

you guys make good points when you aren’t trying to poke a stick at BOR or make crass jabs at House Dems. you’ve got good institutional knowledge and a reasonable approach to public policy, and I enjoy those posts. but you freak out when partisans act like partisans, and the whole “liberals are bad” thing has been done to death. stick with what you’re good at.

    Jez-

In all seriousness, that warmed my heart a little.

Thanks for the honest feedback. To be straight, it’s not my goal to get noticed by BOR. If that were the case then I would have already decalred mission accomplished because they cought wind of me the first time I wrote about them all the way back in April (check the post and the 1 comment).

I get after them because I don’t agree with them and because I truly think that the readers who visit this site need to hear the opposing opinions and arguments, especially when the vast majority of their stuff is “Conservatives are bad”.

I can appreciate that you do not care for the partisan material, but ask yourself who is better to the opposing political party, OGR or BOR?

If you give that question a true evaluation then I think you will see who is really the pure partisan site and who is here instead to open up a dialogue.

BOR AND OGR should really try and team up to make: Burnt Orange Old Government Road Report, or more succinctly: BOOGRR
