Maybe he should go on “Made”
Yeah, I know that the Democratic convention was weeks ago, but Sam’s life is a busy one and I’m just now getting around to catching up on my reading.
And I come across this little gem on the Lubbock Online site.
So guess who got to make a speech. That’s right. The Sultan of the Sauced…the Rotund Ringleader…the Honorable (and I use that word loosely) Jim Dunnam.
And here was his slam:
“For the purpose of this convention, Tom Craddick is not recognized.”
That is a good line? That’s the thing that brought the crowd to its feet? Seriously, Jimmy. You outta call the people at “Made” and get them to make you good at public speaking. And it probably wouldn’t hurt to have them get you a nutritionist, too. And maybe a trainer. Ah hell. Just go for the whole package.
Here’s the thing: why do Democrats keep going back to the moment that they were defeated last session? That’s dumb. Why don’t they put some new ideas out or policy initiatives? Could it be that their erstwhile tons-of-fun leader is bankrupt when it comes to actually formulating legislation?
He did manage to carve out time in the 80th to file a whopping 17 bills and actually pass one of them. His only low numbered bill–HB 729–was actually a duplicate of many, many others that had to do with the CHIP program. Four others had to do with a county’s authority to impose a hotel occupancy tax. And one would have required that the governor be elected by a majority of voters in the state.
Since his CHIP bill was a copy/paste job, four others were on the same topic, and one was just absurd, let’s say he actually filed 11 and got 1 passed. And wasn’t he the guy with a small army of ghost employees helping him out? What the hell did all those people do with their time?
Oh yeah. They stroked themselves. All. Session. Long.
So now he gets up and makes a speech with a line referencing one of his worst defeats. And even if that’s something they want to revisit again and again and again, it’s a lame line.
This is an example of the leaders that the Dems pick?? This is one of the guys who’s going to flip the House??
Seriously. This guy couldn’t get a jell-o mold to stick together, let along a coalition of like-minded representatives.
And Jimmy…for real…put the Ho-Hos and Lone Star down.
