www.reefari.com More great fishing video action targetting the deep reefs in the coral Sea off Mackay Queensland. 4 & 5 way hookups were common with big Quality reef fish coming onboard. This was day three of our recent mothershipping charter to the outer Great Barrier reef some 200 kilometres offshore. Reefari’s specialty is targeting these deep reefs and shoals out in the coral sea, and relatively unfished and the video action shows. Big fish, 4 & 5 way hookups, Spanish Mackerel, Sharks and heaps more. The following report is a good summary of what went on. Day 3 went proudly to the Queenslanders!! Day three Time for the Maroons to put some runs on the board, and they were still keen to fish the deep. With these wide deep marks, it pays to look after them and not too fish them too hard, They can be susceptible to overfishing. The Shipping Channel off Mackay, is now suffering from several years of great fishing and is well short of the glory years gone past. Mothershipping charters brings out the best of both worlds, All the comforts of a big mothership, and the speed and fishing versatility of a dayboat and dories. These marks are well protected due to the large distances, and only fished once a year by us anyhow. The trophy Red emperor are getting harder to find and makes these trips all the worthwhile. The day started slow and we had to work several new marks before we found one with the fishing dial turned up to full. They’re only small marks in the middle of nowhere …

A great full day of big game sportfishing in the deep sea off the east coast of Antigua for guests of ReefView Apartments, Antigua – aboard the 45ft Hatteras “Obsession” – run by Captain Derek Biel out of the Catamaran Marina, Falmouth Harbour. Landing a mixed bag of fish including barracuda, blackfin and skipjack tuna, – we even raised and hooked a blue marlin well over 100lb, which unfortunately threw the hook on its first jump after a smoking initial run. However it was the 3 wahoo between 25 and 35lbs which saved the day, (including a double header) – falling to the deeper trolled ballyhoo baits on the planer and wireline outfits. Capt. Biel kindly cleaned a wahoo and tuna for the happy ReefView guests – as the school of resident tarpon delighted the audience putting on their regular feeding show back at the Cat Marina.
